Relational Hope

God

Why should we care about what shapes our thinking and relating?

Talking about living alive in the context of whole relationships between men and women, why does it matter?

Why should we care about what shapes our thinking and relating?

Why does it matter if we’re honest about our inner lives and shortcomings?

Can’t we just live the way we want?

Act the way we want?

Talk the way we want?

Fortressing ourselves around our political viewpoints, prejudices, moods, and emotions?

Why does thinking about any of this matter?

It matters because we weren’t made to be purposeless, dehumanizing, self-centered machines.

Without hope.

God created us living, breathing, relational human beings.  To live alive in His image for each other and the world around us.

No one in human history models this more fully, more alive, more truthfully, and more with relational hope than Jesus.

Recently, we celebrated Easter, the day Jesus rose from the dead.

His resurrection is the starting point for hope.

Which means, nothing and no one is without hope.

So, our brokenness, arrogance, and degrading discourse are not the last words.

Because Jesus is alive, we can actually have hope.

He is not only our starting point for hope, but He also personifies it.

His whole life — thinking, words, and actions — embody relational hope.
