Something Beautiful

Something Beautiful

There’s something beautiful in the world.  Something, despite the news headlines and the desolation, we view all around us.

There’s something beautiful in the world.  Something, despite the news headlines and the desolation, we view all around us.

Something that grabs our attention.

Catches our breath.

Stalls our manic do-to lists.

It’s nature.

Unfiltered.

In the raw.

A glorious sunrise.

Or sunset.

Colors.  Smells.  Shapes. Fragrances.  Intensity.

They draw something out of us.

An impulse of reality.

Of what’s true.

Really true.

In a world where so much is digitally constructed.

Where words and ideas are tossed about carelessly.

Last time, I shared about viciousness. Today, I’m quiet.  Reflective.  And considering it’s opposite.

Because something miraculous will happen over the course of our new month.

Winter will give way to spring.

Through the changing season comes new life.

New, bursting life.

New, hopeful life.

It’s here, in the raw beauty of creation, we can encounter God.

Might you have time this week to go outside for five minutes? To look up and out at the beauty of the changing season?
