The Look of Compassion

You

In your orbit, what does it to look like when you treat a man or woman with compassion?

In your orbit, what does it to look like when you treat a man or woman with compassion?

Maybe it’s to the person you can’t stand?

Or someone whose voice you don’t like?

Who seems to have it out for you?

Or the one who is political in all the loud ways?

Who doesn’t seem to respect or regard anyone of your sex?

It’s here, in this aggressive description, we find Jesus.

He looks at all of us with compassion.

When Jesus saw a large crowd, He had compassion on them (Matthew 14:14, NIV).

Do you, like Jesus, interact with others with compassion at the forefront?

Is it your first response?

Or, indeed, any response?

Why do you suppose Jesus had compassion on the people around Him and not some other reaction?

Compassion and love are closely linked actions.  So, to consider and respond to the questions above, I wonder if you can first start with yourself?

Can you imagine Jesus looking at you with compassion?  Personally, for you?

Contrary to what you may think, you are not a random set of cells.  Or a mistake.

The truth is,

In love, Jesus created you.

In love, He personally sees you.

In love, has compassion on you.

Could you sit with this over the coming days, absorbing the compassion and love God has for you?
